When Do I Receive My CPA Exame Score?

February 17, 2009 on 7:25 am | In CPA | 2 Comments

The CPA exams are organized in 2-month windows, with a blackout month in between. You can schedule and sit for any part of the exam in the following months:

January & February
March
April & May
June
July & August
Sep
October & November
December

I sat for the first 3 parts at the end of the exam windows of Feb ‘08, May ‘08, and Aug ‘08 and I received my scores with in a month each time. I sat for my last par on Jan 9, 2009, it has been well over a month since and I don’t have my score yet. I’ve been checking NASBA’s website every day for the past 2 weeks with no luck. I emailed NASBA to find out the following about scores:

Beginning with the July/August 2005 testing window, scores will be reported by the AICPA to NASBA in two waves on an accelerated schedule. This means that candidates who test in the first month of a testing window may qualify for earlier receipt of scores, depending on the examination content administered to them, the examination volume and the distribution of examinees within the testing window. Given these factors, it is impossible to tell in advance which candidates and how many will qualify for early score receipt. After the AICPA releases scores to NASBA, NASBA processes them and forwards them to boards of accountancy for approval and release to candidates. Boards of accountancy determine the actual score reporting schedule. Candidates should note, however, that FROM NOW ON, SCORES MAY NO LONGER BE REPORTED ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

The following chart provides approximate score release information in effect beginning with the July/August 2005 testing window. Testing Month AICPA Releases Scores to NASBA Scores Reported to Candidates:

Testing month January: AICPA Releases Scores to NASBA - 3rd week of Feb & 2nd week of March

Testing month: August

Testing month: November

Please note that candidates who test on the same day may receive scores at different times due to differences in necessary quality control procedures. However, candidates who do NOT receive their scores by the 20th of April, or July, or October, or January, should call NASBA at 1-866-MY-NASBA (1-866-696-2722).

25 Randome Things

February 13, 2009 on 9:58 am | In Food for Thought | No Comments

I’ve joined the Facebook “25 Randome things” wagon…

1. I love randomness; it is an intense notion. Microsoft excel and iPods cannot generate random counts and I wish it was differently.

2. My friend Didi introduced me to Peanut butter in 2001 and I was utterly appalled by it but then, the following year, I fell in love with PB&J’s and gained 20lbs. I’m still a Peanut Butter maniac; I put it in everything, and I even cook chicken and beef with it. No PB&J’s every night though.

3. I have never sung in the shower nor have I brushed my teeth there.

4. I’ve balanced my check book to the penny every single month since I’ve had bank accounts and credit cards.

5. I grew up under a communist regime but had the best childhood, running around unafraid of anything. My best friend growing up, Tervel, and I used to take the bus downtown in 2nd or 3rs grade to go to the movies.

6. I don’t think that anybody understands me as well as my brother.

7. My weakest subject in school was Math! I sucked in it big time. I had to learn everything I didn’t learn trough mid- and high school in college. Ironically, when I tell people ask what I do for work, the first thing that comes out of their mouth is “Oh, so you are good at math!”

8. Many times I’ve been told that I should do stand up comedy. The idea secretly horrifies me but I do love to make my friends laugh.

9. I love my profession. I chose accounting the firs year I came to the US and so far have graduate with bachelors degree in accounting, work in accounting and have sat for all exams to become a Certified Public Accountant. I can’t wait to add the 3 simple letters after my name – CPA!

10. My brother and I used to be vegetarian for 7 years and vegan for 3. I love to cook and cook every meal I eat Monday through Friday.

11. 95% of American people mispronounce my name. My name is not spelled like the city in Italy, Milan, with an “a” but with an “E.” It’s like saying the personal pronoun “Me” and “len”, like in Glen.

12. I’m an immense fan of recorded books. I listen to them in my car while driving and have listed and rated every book I’ve listen to on my blog. I also love to read – I read in bed before I go to sleep. I’m reading the last book of the “Golden Compass” trilogy. My favorite contemporary American writer is Michael Cunningham – “The Hours.”

13. I love new cloths but don’t like shopping.

14. Most of my closest friends never cease to inspire me. I’m very dependent on my friends’ presence. I’ve been blessed with a BBF and whenever I talk about him I always say “my best friend Paul…”

15. I have never forwarded a chain letter; regardless of how heart-ranching. I’m doing this because a friend of mine insisted – explicitly.

16. It took me a lot of effort to discontinue saying “Thanks god” instead of “Thank god.” Also to stop saying irregardless.

17. I’ve written 2 short stories and used to be determined that I’ll write. I wanted to write both prose and poetry. Writing poetry in English is difficult – I’ve written only one poem in English.

18. I still try to maintain my blog – shukadarov.com.

19. I want to teach accounting in college (night school, where people are surer why they are in class). I already have a clear idea of my approach and the things I want my students to leave my class knowing.

20. I love to stereotype. I also nickname people. I’ve come up with well over 500 nicknames since middle school.

21. Nothing excites me more in a person than the ability to grasp different concepts. I’ve met very few people with truly open minds. Erudite people are an enormous rarity. I crave an erudite mind.

22. My favorite self proclaimed concept is “Pozitiven Sasel,” I truly believe in it and unfortunately its name cannot be translated in English.

23. Physical affection is precious. There is no substitute for it.

24. This one time… I got kicked out on the street.

25. I love telling stories. I can make a story from as simple thing as going to the dentist or the use of wet wipes. When I tell stories it’s often about the journey, not the destination.
