My Shallow Wish List
March 23, 2007 on 12:06 am | In Food for Thought | No CommentsA few weeks ago I was talking with Kate, laughing, telling her that I have some wants and need regarding my future job in New York:
“I want the name of my street to be a number, to have a floor for a clarification, and my work phone number to start with 212- area code!”
This was how I remembered the idea of the shallow wish-list.
About this time of the year, 2 years ago, I was taking an “Organizational behavior” class and the instructor, Doreen Lawrence, shared that she has a list of goals, tucked in a file with some other documents, which she occasionally pulls out and revisits. She explained that the way it works is to write down difficult to attain goals such as “I want to drive a Jaguar”, or “I want to get a degree from a particular school”, or “I want to do an addition to my house” etc.
The idea is, as she explained, to write down only things that you really would like to achieve, not things that you would like to happen to you or merely things that you wish for. In addition, it is not enough to have just a running mental-list; the cool part of writing your wants down is that you file the list away and while looking for something completely different, some odd number of years down the road, you run into it and what are you to see: “oh wow, I’ve done that, and yeah – I did this; well I’m still working on these…”
Granted, in order for the list to work is best to fill it with materialistically oriented goals. I’m not sure exactly why but I always liked the idea. Hell, I’ve been meaning to do it for two years now. I’m going to do it here in my blog so that it is filed away and I can revisit it any time. Since I’ve been meaning to do it for a long time couple of the thing on my shallow wish list will be already achieved but that’s part of the fun, right.
I set My Shallow Wish List as a separate page, to see it simply click on above.
The New Look of My Blog
March 20, 2007 on 11:47 pm | In A Quickie | No CommentsI find it pretty alarming that the look of my blog was entirely changed and I haven’t had a minute to comment on it and to share my excitement. Sadly, I have a lot of things I would like to write about and most of them will probably go stale by the time I get to them but working 2 jobs is taking its toll on me!
Beccam did all the work, as always, she even picked the template for me. And I love the way my blog looks. It, in a way, foreshadows my moving to NY. Beccam even intuitively picked a picture which shows the blogger looking from the proper bank of the Hudson River, LOL. This is a picture of Jersey City not of Manhattan.
Speaking of which, I can now make it a public knowledge – April 15, 2007 is going to be my final day working for Citizens Bank. I’ve already given notice. I can’t believe I’ve been working for Citizens for 4 years now; on April 15th it is going to be exactly 4 years and 1 week. My game plan is to move sometime between April 15 and May 1st of 2007.
P.S.: Again, special thanks to Beccam for all the help and fun she supplies me with.

Who Writes to the Manufacturers’ Reply.
March 12, 2007 on 10:43 pm | In Food for Thought | No CommentsA while ago, on Jan 23 2007 to be precised, i wrote to Mission food regarding the plastic packaging of their tortillas. Disappointingly, I received a generic reply offering me free coupons. In case anybody’s curious about what did they have to say, here is an excerpt from the email I received:

Happy Birthday Jose!
March 1, 2007 on 6:07 am | In Happy Birthday | No CommentsToday is Jose Rivera’s Birthday.
Jose, last year I was able to deliver my wishes personally and to celebrate your entrance into the middle-age-crisis chapter of your life. I’m just joking old sport. On a much serious note – best wishes for peace and happiness in good health and with great friends.
