Inspiration

August 25, 2005 on 7:10 am | In Announcement | No Comments

I took a literature class last year. It was called American Literature Since the 1890’s. Before I started, I dreaded taking this class because I knew that I’d be a crazy load of reading and writing, and so it was but I loved it. The main reason being the instructor – Professor Laurel Kornhizer – she is the most incredible person I’ve met. Laurel illuminates extraordinary strength of human character. She is sharp, in every sense of the word, very professional, amazing teacher, she is also very intelligent and erudite. She enlightened me on so many things – in this one class, my eyes were opened to a different point of view towards literature, writing, the significance of poetry and poets in society. She also unveiled the debts of the racial issue in the US and the current outcome of it. Laurel made us think about so many more things than just literature; she is a beacon in the dark tunnel of superficiality of the day to day life. She is my inspiration towards a more sophisticated life fulfilled with art and humanity.

One would probably wander why, all of a sudden, I’m writing about Laurel? Because, after 7 or 8 months of trying, I finally met with her. It was a brief meting but it was a charge. We met only for an hour at the bookstore on 132, but it was enough to make me go back to writing. I’m working on a short novel, which I keep on picking up and dropping off. I decided to finish it in the next few weeks, which means that I’m not going to be writing in my blog for a while. I promise to post the novel when it’s done though.

Happy Birthday

August 24, 2005 on 10:11 pm | In Friends | No Comments

This past Monday, the 22nd, was Joan’s Birthday, and her sister came to visit us from Virginia. They were making plans to go see a drag show in Ptown on Saturday and I said I’d join them. It always so happens that Joan’s Birthdays are somewhat uneventful, so this year I decided to do something about that. She knew that couple of other people might join us for the show but didn’t expect 9 people for dinner party. We got a table at Bubalas in Ptown and everyone had a little gift for her. It turned out really nice and she was very, very happy. We actually never made it to the drag show but we had a blast just hanging out.

Easter Sweet Bread

I had just called Steff at the radio to ask her something, while chewing on a bowl of cereal - mouth full, milk dripping down my chin - and the last thing I expected was for her to put me on the air with the butt-crack sweat explanation. But my favorite part is the jelly-belly, jelly beans Easter chocolate bunny.

School

August 18, 2005 on 10:17 pm | In Announcement | No Comments

I’m starting to stress over school before it has even started. I’ll be taking 4 classes this semester:

 Monday 6:30 – 10:00pm Management Science
 Tuesday 6:30 – 10:00pm Business Finance
 Wednesday 6:30 – 10:00pm Ethical Responsibility
 Saturday 1:00 – 4:30pm Cost Accounting

The good news is that starting September 1 I’m going to be working in Hyannis. This way I’m gonna be 5 min from home, across the street from the gym, and 10 min from school.

The Stars Have Shifted for Me

August 11, 2005 on 7:58 am | In This is soo crazy! | No Comments

I was trying to keep it together, but everything kept falling apart…

First the DVD player broke, then my laptop, and 2 days ago the stirring wheel of my car started vibrating. A nightmare! I started panicking, but the stars shifted and yesterday I opened and fixed the DVD player, then I found out that, one bolt on each front tire of my car is loos, and tightened them, which fixed the vibration - how scary was that? - and finally, 2 weeks later, I got a quote on my lap top, which will be fixed, too, next week. All I have to say is “Thank you god, for watching out for me!”

Bad News

August 3, 2005 on 7:20 am | In Announcement | No Comments

The screan on my laptop died over the weekend, and my hands are tied now. I’ve heard people saing, when something happens to their compuer, that their whole life is on their PC - and now I understand.

The bad news is that i just paid my fall semester’s tuition ($4500) and i don’t know how i’m gonna buy a laptop too. I actually dropped it off at Michel’s shop, on monday, but I haven’t heard anything yet. Hopefuly it’s fixable.

Anyway, this weekend Joan and I are going to NYC to se The Phantome of the Opera, so I’m gonna be away for a few days.
If anybody knows laptops, please let me know what’s a good buy. Beccam sugested DELL and that is what I’m going to look into, but I don’t know what characteristics to look for, so any halp is wellcomed.
P.S.: I’m going to be writing less aparentlly.
