Countdown Day # 2
June 30, 2005 on 11:59 pm | In 4th of July Madness | No CommentsAnother day of an early start. Today I chose to get up at 6:30am so that I can get things done. The main things I was able to accomplish were financial aid paperwork, MP3 player and most of all - the RUN. There is a lot of F-in’ paperwork around this Fin Aid! I loaded an old friend of mine on my MP3 player – DJ Kikk – the artist and the record itself are my old friends.
While running I was having philosophical thoughts about the process of dissipating my extra body fat. I didn’t realize that I actually had a good chunk around my waist. Not accidentally they are called fat deposits, it takes a while to exhaust them. At first I thought that it is ridiculously slow looking at my belly, but today it donned on me that in fact the loosing process starts from the very back of the “fat-bags” and simultaneously the very top of the abs, than it goes on the side (the Milenhandles) and the lower part of the belly comes last in line.
I don’t remember if I mentioned that I run to the Ocean every day. Seeing the water briefly is the best part. I get a chance to still a glimps of the Ocean at the end of Sea Street where it dead-ends at a miniature roundabout (rotary) with mini benches and cute little flowers. Today’s run was somewhat special. It was the regular 4.5 miles or 40 minutes run, but it was drizzling, at first, and at the end turned into rain. I run topless because I’m always afraid that I’m gonna be hot and it was funny today to see people wearing raincoats and jackets while I was running half naked. Or actually it’s the other way around. I can only see the Ocean for a few seconds while circling the mini-rotary. Today it looked like form a old storm painting – it was misty and dark and the Ocean was gray and it looked acrimonious it also seamed empty and immeasurable.
I was an overcharge at work the pre-vacational fever is shaking me well. I could barely wait for the endless day to finally come to conclusion. Thursdays are very busy so I didn’t get out of there till 8:00pm. Bad for the gym, it deeply cuts in my workout time. I was able, however, to fulfill my entire 1st Friday workout by Ketie – 3 exercises for chest, 3 for biceps and 2 for abs.
After the gym I had dinner with Joan, watched a Firefly and now (@ 12:09 am) I’m doing my blogging for the day. I was originally planning to do my luggage for tomorrow but I suppose I’ll get up early and deal with the whole thing.

Countdown Day # 3
June 29, 2005 on 9:31 pm | In 4th of July Madness | No CommentsI woke up ridiculously early this morning – 6:15am – without wanting to and I had gone to bed at 12:30am. I actually used the time wisely:
Folded laundry
Finished FAFSA application
Setup an online bill payee
Picked at some of the Cape Blogs
Finally talked to my brother. It was awesome to catch up.
Did the Run – 4.5 miles. It doesn’t get any easier!
Work was a drag today. Thank god for Kate being there so we could mischief all day. I’m suffering from the pre-vacation fever – I can’t wait for Friday to come. Speaking of which I have no time to get things done for my vacation. I was able to weasel out of work an hour earlier so I can go to the gym and wash my car before Kate came to my house for blog time. My work out was the 1st Wednesday of the program – 3 exercise for back, 3 for shoulder and 1 for abs. The shoulder was just fine and I shortened the abs because of the lack of time.
I had just finished vacuuming and polishing the interior of my car when Kate showed up. I made an exception with a beer and we read and laughed. When I went to reach for a beer I noticed something curios in the fridge, something covered with a cloth napkin, of course I lifted up the napkin to discover Marks cruel game. He apparently was teaching me a lesson in curiosity because I encountered the lucky-trash-sow vulva. We laughed so hard that we needed to sit down. I, respectively, left a note to Mark on our joke-of-the-week board.
The sow is lucky-trash-sow because it usually stands next to the trash
, and on the chalkboard we usually keep a running joke (sometimes from a stupid TV commercial, sometimes something that I’ve said wrong in English, or sometimes something that Mark have said).
Speaking of Mark that’s a perfect highlight of his personality. He also always likes to create cozy atmosphere for himself and he loves fire. Mark always fires up the fireplace in the winter, he doesn’t have a gas grill but always grills on charcoal one. Here is how Mark spends a quiet early summer night by himself – he has a special bonfire barrel! That was what I found in the yard last Sunday morning before he was leaving fishing.

Countdown Day # 4
June 28, 2005 on 10:03 pm | In 4th of July Madness | No CommentsThe excitement is picking up! I just spoke with Peter from NYC and we both got so pumped up for the upcoming vacation.
I’m proud of the extra effort I put in today. I got up at 7:30am and did the run – 4.5 miles or 40 minutes. It followed a long 10-hour day at work during which I continuously was checking on my shoulder debating whether I should try and work out tonight. Kate and I discussed the option of fulfilling our plan from yesterday but since she has to get up at 2:30am and I was keen to find out how bad my shoulder was we parted and I paid a visit to the gym. Thus, I’m glad to announce that I completed an absolutely satisfactory 1st Monday workout by Ketie – 3 exercises for chest, 3 for biceps, 2 for triceps and 1 for abs. I was of course very cautious not to do something stupid and I lifted a bit lighter weights than usual.
Happy from the ability to train I swung by the bookstore for some spiritual food. I was planing on borrowing a book from the library but since I live for work before it’s open and come back after it’s closed I decided to actually BUY a book. I’ve had my eye set on Henry James, for the longest time, so I picked up 2 books indeed – “The Portrait of a Lady” and “the Turn of the Screw and Other Short Fiction By Henry James.” I hope to enjoy them, I’m a bit afraid that the language might be too high, but that’s the point anyway. I’m trying to examine the mastery of writing a paragraph long sentence without a run on. I’ll definitely let you know if I liked them.
Abomination
June 28, 2005 on 9:53 pm | In Big Soccer Words | No Commentsa·bom·i·na·tion
n.
Abhorrence; disgust.
A cause of abhorrence or disgust.
abomination
n 1: a person who is loathsome or disgusting 2: hate coupled with disgust [syn: abhorrence, detestation, execration, loathing, odium] 3: an action that is vicious or vile; an action that arouses disgust or abhorence; “his treatment of the children is an abomination”
abomination
This word is used, (1.) To express the idea that the Egyptians considered themselves as defiled when they ate with strangers (Gen. 43:32). The Jews subsequently followed the same practice, holding it unlawful to eat or drink with foreigners (John 18:28; Acts 10:28; 11:3).
(2.) Every shepherd was “an abomination” unto the Egyptians (Gen. 46:34). This aversion to shepherds, such as the Hebrews, arose probably from the fact that Lower and Middle Egypt had formerly been held in oppressive subjection by a tribe of nomad shepherds (the
Hyksos), who had only recently been expelled, and partly also perhaps from this other fact that the Egyptians detested the lawless habits of these wandering shepherds.
Countdown Day # 5
June 27, 2005 on 11:57 pm | In 4th of July Madness | No CommentsEven though I went to bed relatively early last night I felt tired this morning. My shoulder bothered me slightly in my sleep. It was funny when I got up and reached the floor with my left foot and said a loud “OUCH!” First my hip that hurts from running then my brand-new left shoulder ache and on top of it my left foot hurt too. I knew about the hip and the shoulder but what was with the foot?! I then recalled that someone dropped a ponderous hook, at the end of a rope, on my foot while on the boat. Ridiculous I tell ya! I realized that I’m not gonna be able to lift weights tonight so I forced my self to go for a run. I did the familiar 4.5-mile run around the block and didn’t have time for breakfast.
Work was ok. I worked with Kate and we giggled all day in between the busy. Since I wasn’t working out and she doesn’t have a PC we made great plans to come to my house and read the Blog. That plan failed through cuz I got a phone call reminding me to go to some type of a job fair.
A little prehistory about that. Some random lady-customer of mine asked me over the line if I would be interested in working for Citi Financial – it’s a big company you know, the one with the umbrella. I figured that it wouldn’t hurt to check it out. I’m so mad now that I ruined my plans with Kate who even drove with me to there to see if it wouldn’t take too long. This “seminar” (the quotes are done with fingers) end up being some freaking pyramid-scheme-like sectish shit. Complete cock-and-bull’s-eye talkers saying stuff of the sort – “wouldn’t you like to make 10-20 thousand a month?” absolutely ridiculous. And the best part was when they forced people to sign the applications and give them $199 to register. It goes something like that – “we pay for your licenses ($1700) and train you, and all you can loose if you don’t want to do it is $40.” Blah, blah, blah… doesn’t that sound scary?

Countdown Day # 6
June 27, 2005 on 11:11 pm | In 4th of July Madness | No CommentsToday was a looooooooong and exciting day! I worked from 10:30 to 3:30 and after work met with dear friends – Kate, Steff, Cliff and Tommy at the Portuguese festival in Falmouth. The thing is a blast and reminded me, a lot, a Bulgarian gathering from my childhood. Big laughs, beers and food. Cliff was so cute, he is always excited to show stuff and introduce you to new and unexplored ventures. He was introducing us all, passionately, to the traditional foods.
After drinking beers, blowing bubbles, playing with the kids and enjoying the feast we all ate – Bifana (Beef-a-na) and Ca Ciola (Ka-sir-la). With full belies and buzzed heads we moved to Cliff and Steff’s house and from there, across the street, to the pond. That was the highlight of the day. Steff and I, in charge of the entertainment, went for a swim and did a performance on the floating dock. It was a triathlon – singing, jumping, and synchronized swimming. The very unfortunate news is that I injured myself during the performance. I’m not quite sure how, but I almost dislocated my left shoulder’s rotating cup. I have done that 10 years ago and it hurts a lot. I’m really upset because it completely ruined my 4th of July madness contest. Regardless of the accident we went on Tommy’s boat and did some crazy tubing (To ride or float on an inflated tube for recreation). That was awesome! We then continued back at the house with margaritas and dinner.
That was my first real summer fun free of any school burden. Well I didn’t do much exercise, except the swimming, but it was a Sunday. There was a dancing opportunity for after 10pm but I skipped on it because I felt tired and quite satisfied.
